BROUGHTON, Shropshire - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"BROUGHTON, a parish in the Albrighton division of the county of Salop, 7 miles to the N. of Shrewsbury. It includes the township of Yorton. The Crewe and Shrewsbury branch of the London and North-Western railway crosses the parish, with a station at Yorton. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Lichfield, worth £70, in the patronage of Sir R. Hill, Bart."

"YORTON, a township in the parish of Broughton, county Salop, 7 miles N. of Shrewsbury. It is a station on the Crewe, Whitchurch, and Shrewsbury branch of the London and North-Western railway."
