CARDISTON: Geographical and Historical information from the year 1831.

"CARDISTON (or CARDESTON), a parish in the hundred of FORD, county of SALOP, 6 miles (W.) from Shrewsbury, containing, with the township of Watlesborough, 297 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £3, and in the patronage of Sir B. Leighton, Bart. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. This parish is bounded on the south by the river Severn, and contains coal and limestone, but the latter only is worked."
