It includes the townships of Aston, Beobridge, Broughton, Dalicott, Farmcott, Gatacre, Heathton, Hopstone, Ludstone, Shipley, Sutton, and Wendell. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Hereford, value £300, in the patronage of T. Whitmore, Esq., who is lord of the manor. The patron has recently converted the perpetual curacy into a vicarage by charging his property at Ludstone in perpetuity with £100 per annum to meet the grant of £67 from the Ecclesiastical Commissioners; a rent-charge of £12 is paid also to the minister in lieu of moduses. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is in various styles of architecture, with stained-glass windows. It contains monuments to the Gatacre family and to Lord Chief Justice Brooke, who also filled the offices of Recorder of London and Speaker of the House of Commons. A memorial "Te Deum" window has been lately presented by W. Crowther, Esq., at a cost of £500. The endowed free school is now united with the National school. The parochial charities are considerable. The late John Crowther, of Wednesbury, left by will £1,000 to the poor of this parish, the interest of which to be laid out in clothing, and to be distributed annually on St. Thomas's Day.
