"DAWLEY MAGNA, a parish in the Wellington division of the hundred of South Bradford, in the county of Salop, 3½ miles S.E. of Wellington, its post town, and 4 W. of Shifnal. It is situated on the Severn canal, under the Wrekin, and contains the townships of Dalby Parva and Malinslee. There are coal-pits, and lime, iron, and tile works. In connection with these several works are numerous branch railways."
