DITTON PRIORS: Geographical and Historical information from the year 1831.

"DITTON PRIORS (or PRIORS DITTON), a parish partly in the hundred of MUNSLOW, but chiefly within the liberty of WENLOCK, county of SALOP, 7 miles (W.S.W.) from Bridgenorth, containing, with the township of Ruthale with Ashfield, which is in Munslow hundred, 685 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £5. 15. 8. John Baxter, Esq. was patron in 1791. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist."

" RUTHALE, a township, joint with Ashfield, in that part of the parish of DITTON PRIORS, which is in the hundred of MUNSLOW, county of SALOP, 8 miles (W. by S.) from Bridgenorth, containing, with Ashfield, 40 inhabitants."
