"LONGFORD, a parish in the Newport division of the hundred of BRADFORD (South), county of SALOP, 1 mile (W. by. S.) from Newport, containing 234 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the king's books at £6. 2. 8. R. Leeke, Esq. was patron in 1825. The church is dedicated to St. Mary."
