"LOPPINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Pimhill, county Salop, 2 miles W. of Wem, its post town, and 6 S.E. of Ellesmere. It is situated on the river Roden. The Baschurch station of the Shrewsbury and Chester railway is about 5 miles S.W. from the village. The parish includes the townships of Burlton and Noneley. The surface is in general flat. The impropriate tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £97 18s. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Lichfield, value £270, in the patronage of the lord chancellor."
