"MORETON-CORBET, a parish in the hundred of North Bradford, county Salop, 8 miles N.E. of Shrewsbury, its post town, and 4½ S.E. of Wem. The village, which is small, is situated on the river Roden, and on the road from Wellington to Market Drayton, and is wholly agricultural. The soil is of a sandy loam alternating with a stiff clay. The surface is generally flat, except a ridge of elevated land which nearly intersects the parish. There are several mills on the banks of the river Roden. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £330."
