"NORBURY, a parish in the Bishop's Castle division of the hundred of Purslow, county Salop, 4 miles N.E. of Bishop's Castle, its post town. The village, which is inconsiderable, is wholly agricultural. The parish comprises the townships of Norbury, Asterton, Whitcott, and Hardwick. The surface is generally hilly, and the low lands are watered by numerous small brooks. The soil is light and poor, and in some parts marshy. The living is a curacy annexed to the vicarage* of North Lydbury, in the diocese of Hereford. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a chapel-of-ease on the road to Bishop's Castle. The Primitive Methodists have a place of worship." "ASTERTON, a township in the parish of Norbury, and hundred of Purslow, in the county of Salop, 4 miles from Church Stretton. It is situated on the range of the Longmont, or Long Mynd Hills." "HARDWICK, a township in the parish of Norbury, county Salop, 3 miles N.E. of Bishop's Castle. It is situated on the Onny, and is joined to Witcote to form a township" "WHITCOTT, a township in the parish of Norbury, county Salop, 3 miles N.E. of Bishop's Castle. It is joined with Hardwick."
