"ONIBURY, a parish in the hundred of MUNSLOW, county of SALOP, 5 miles (N. W.) from Ludlow, containing 445 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £8. 17. 8, and in the patronage of the Bishop of Hereford. The church is dedicated to St. Michael. A court baron is occasionally held here. William Norton, in 1593, left a rent-charge of £6. 6. 8. for teaching poor children."
