"UPTON CRESSETT, a parish in the hundred of STOTTESDEN, county of SALOP, 5 miles (W. by S.) from Bridgenorth, containing 69 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £4. 15. 2., and in the patronage of Miss Cressett. The church is dedicated to St. Michael."
