"WOMBRIDGE, a parish in the Wellington division of the hundred of Bradford South. A curacy, in the diocese of Coventry and Lichfield, the deanery of Salop, and archdeaconry of Salop. 361 houses, 1,860 inhabitants, 3 miles east of Wellington. The depression of the iron trade in 1816 and 1817 lessened the population of Wombridge. It has since increased to nearly its former amount."
