"BACTON, a parish in the hundred of Hartismere, in the county of Suffolk, 5 miles to the N. of Stowmarket, its post town. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Norwich, value 700, in the patronage of the Rev. A. B. Hemsworth. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The annual value of the parochial charities is 86. Bacton Hall is near the village."
