"BOXTED, a parish in the hundred of Babergh, in the county of Suffolk, 6 miles to the N.E. of Clare. Bury St. Edmund's is its post town. It is watered by a small stream, a branch of the river Stour. The living is a rectory consolidated with that of Hartest, in the diocese of Ely. The parochial charities amount to £11 per annum."
