THORNHAM MAGNA
"THORNHAM MAGNA, a parish in the hundred of Hartismere, county Suffolk, 3 miles S.W. of Eye, its post town, and 2½ S.E. of Mellish railway station. The village is situated on the road from London to Norwich by way of Ipswich. The living is a rectory* with that of Thornham Parva consolidated, in the diocese of Norwich, joint value £497. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, has monuments to the Major and Henniker families. The register dates from 1555. The parochial charities produce about £10 per annum. The Hall is the principal residence. Lord Henniker is lord of the manor."
