"BUTCOMBE, a parish in the hundred of Hartcliffe, in the county of Somerset, 10 miles to the S. of Bristol. Wrington is its post town. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £248, in the patronage of the Rev. R. P. Hassell. The church is ancient, and is dedicated to St. Michael."
