Dodington

"DODINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Williton, in the county of Somerset, 2 miles N.W. of Nether Stowey, its post town, and 9½ N.W. of the Bridgwater station on the Bristol and Exeter railway. It is situated near the Quantock hills. Limestone is found in the neighbourhood. A copper mine was opened here some years back, but subsequently abandoned as unprofitable. Limestone is quarried, chiefly for burning into lime. Fine red and white madrepore is met with in the quarries. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £120, in the patronage of the Duke of Buckingham. The church, dedicated to All Saints, is an elegant stone structure in the later English style, with tower and clock. The register commences in 1648."
