"REDLYNCH, a tything and chapelry in the parish and hundred of Bruton, county Somerset, 2 miles S.E. of Bruton. There is no village, only a few farmhouses. The Earl of Ilchester takes from this place the title of baron. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £59. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, was formerly a chapel-of-ease to Bruton. Redlynch House is the principal residence."
