Runnington

"RUNNINGTON, a parish in the hundred of Milverton, county Somerset, 2 miles N.W. of Wellington, its post town and railway station. The village, which is of small extent, is situated on the river Tone. The woollen manufacture is carried on to a small extent. The Taunton and Tiverton canal passes near the boundary of the parish. The soil consists of a loam-sand upon a subsoil of rock and limestone, which latter is quarried for manure. The tithes have been commuted for a rent-charge of £84, and the glebe comprises 16 acres. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £103. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is an ancient stone structure, with a square tower containing two bells. The register dates from 1586. The charities produce about £8 per annum, which goes to the clerk. There is a school for both sexes, in which a Sunday-school is held."
