"ST. MICHAEL CHURCH, a parish in the hundred of North Petherton, county Somerset, 5 miles S. of Bridgwater, its post town, and 7 N.E. of Taunton. The parish, which is inconsiderable, comprising only 50 acres, is situated near the Exeter railway, and on the Taunton canal. It is wholly agricultural. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value £80. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, is a small structure, with a low square tower. The interior of the church has monuments to the Slade family of Maunsel House. Sir F. W. Slade is lord of the manor."
