"WESTBURY, a parish in the hundred of Wells Forum, county Somerset, 3½ miles N.W. of Wells. The village is situated at the base of the Mendip hills. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of Bath and Wells, value with Priddy, £250, in the patronage of the bishop. The church, dedicated to St. Lawrence, is a Norman structure, partly rebuilt in the reign of Edward IV."
