The census was taken on the 7th April 1861

• S & N / British Data Archive Ltd have produced images of the Staffordshire 1861 census on CD

• Richard Griffiths' 1861 Black Country Census Transcriptions pages include some parts of South Staffordshire

• Staffordshire 1861 census information is starting to appear online as part of the Free Census Project. The site is searchable and, as the name suggests, free. The status of the Staffordshire records. Volunteers to help are very welcome.
