"SPERNALL, a parish in the Alcester division of Barlichway hundred, county Warwick, 3½ miles N. of Alcester. Bromsgrove is its post town. The village, which is small, is situated on the Cheltenham road, near the river Arrow. The inhabitants are wholly agricultural. The Warwickshire hounds meet in this parish. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Worcester, value £154. The church is dedicated to St. Leonard. The parochial charities produce about £2 per annum. S. R. Throckmorton, Esq., is lord of the manor."
