The small booklet from which this list was transcribed was printed in 1885. Inhabitants of Birmingham Edbaston and Aston possesing goods to the value of ten shillings in the year and upwards in the year 1327. Being a list of persons taxed to the amount of a twentietjh of thier movables as a subsidy for the defence of the kingdom against the Scotch taxation of a twentieth in the county of Warwick, granted to our king Edward the third from the conquest in the first year of his reign (A.D. 1327)I hope that it is of use to someone, and not a waste of my/our time. [At the very least, it's an interesting treatise on how surnames have evolved - Ed]
