Thrimby is a parish in the West Ward of the county adjacent to Lowther, Bampton, Shap, Crosby Ravensworth and Morland. It was formerly part of the last mentioned parish. It includes Little Strickland.
"Strickland (Stirkland) gave name to the family of Strickland, which continued here for many generations, and afterwards removed to Sizergh.
Thrimby is a small village in this parish, consisting only of about six families."
