TREDINGTON - Extract from National Gazetteer, 1868

"TREDINGTON, a parish in the upper division of Oswaldslow hundred, county Worcester, locally in Warwickshire, 2 miles N. of Shipston, its post town, and 9 from Stratford-upon-Avon. It is situated on the river Stour, and previous to 1833 included the townships of Blackwell, Darlingscott, Armscott, and Newbold, but the two last were then formed into a distinct parish by Act of Parliament. The surface is generally level, and the soil partly sandy and partly clayey. The living is a rectory* in the diocese of Worcester, value £539, in the patronage of Jesus College, Cambridge. The church is dedicated to St. Gregory. The parochial charities produce about £59 per annum, of which £50 go to Jordan's school."

"ARMSCOTT, a hamlet in the parish of Tredington, Upper division of the hundred of Oswaldslow, in the county of Worcester, but lying detached in Warwickshire, 2 miles to the N.W. of Shipton-on-Stour. It lies on the west bank of the river Stour, not far from a branch of the Oxford, Worcester, and Wolverhampton railway."

"BLACKWELL, a hamlet in the parish of Tredington, hundred of Oswaldslow, in the county of Worcester, 2 miles to the N. of Shipton-on-Stour."

"DARLINGSCOTT, a hamlet in the parish of Tredington, upper division of the hundred of Oswaldslow, in the county of Worcester, 2½ miles N.W. of Shipston-on-Stour."

"NEWBOLD AND ARMSCOTT, a hamlet in the parish of Tredington, upper division of the hundred of Oswaldslow, county Worcester, 3 miles N. by W. of Shipston-upon-Stour, and 10 from Evesham. It is situated near the western bank of the river Stour."
