The Ancient Parish of BURYTHORPE

[Transcribed information from the early 1820s]

"BURYTHORPE, a parish in the wapentake of Buckrose; 5 miles S. of Malton. Here is a Church of the Establishment (see Churches for photograph), of which the Rev. Robert Howard, rector, is the incumbent; and the King is patron; a Methodist chapel with a small Sunday school. In the year 1768, died Francis Consitt, of this place, who had attained the patriarchal age of 150 years. Pop. including Thornthorpe, 216."
