The Ancient Parish of ASKHAM BRYAN

[Transcribed information from the early 1820s]

"ASKHAM BRYAN, a parish, 4 miles S.W. of York. The church is an ancient structure dedicated to St. Nicholas (see Churches for photograph), the living is a vicarage, the present incumbent Rev. R. S. Thompson, Patron, Harry Croft, Esq.; here is also a Methodist chapel, and an endowed School. Pop. 377."
