In 1822, the following places were in
the Parish of Beverley:


"AIKE, in the parishes of Lockington and Beverley, wapentake of Harthill, division of Bainton Beacon; 3¾ miles N. of Beverley. This village was formerly upon an island, which by draining is now connected with the surrounding country. Pop. 98."


"BEVERLEY PARKS, 2 or 3 f.h. in the township of Woodmansea, and parish of Beverley ; 1¾ miles S. of Beverley, 7½ from Hull."


"ESKE, in the parish of Beverley and wapentake and liberty of Holderness; 2½ miles NNE. of Beverley, Population, 18."


"GROVE HILL, in the parish of Beverley, St. Nicholas, and wapentake of Harthill; ¾ mile ESE. of Beverley.

Grovehill was originally a landing place for goods from the river Hull, and so used, it is said, during the time of the Romans. It has lately been a ship-yard, and has become of no use as a landing place since the Beck was cut from the river to Beverley. --Broadly."


"HULL BRIDGE, hamlet (so called from a bridge over the river Hull) in the township of Tickton, and parish of Beverley; 1½ miles NE. of Beverley."


"MOLESCROFT, in the parish of Beverley, wapentake of Harthill and liberty of Beverley; 1½ miles WNW. of Beverley. Population, 111.

The cross on the further side of Molescroft valley, was one of the boundaries of the sanctuary of the founders of St. John, of Beverley. --Drake."
