BURSTWICK:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"BURSTWICK, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of Holderness, in the East Riding of the county of York, 8 miles to the E. of Hull, its post town. It is a station on the Hull and Holderness railway. The parish includes the township of Ryhill with Camerton. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of York, value £280, in the patronage of Sir T. A. C. Constable. The church is chiefly in the perpendicular style, and is dedicated to All Saints."


"CAMERTON, a hamlet in the township of Ryhill, and parish of Burstwick, wapentake of Holderness, in the East Riding of the county of York, 3 miles to the S.E. of Hedon."


"NUTHILL, formerly a parish, but now in the parish of Burstwick, in the S. division of the wapentake of Holderness, East Riding county York, 8 miles E. by N. of Hull. There is now only one farmhouse. The church has long been in ruins."


"RIDGMONT, a hamlet in the township of Burstwick-cum-Skeckling and parish of Burstwick, wapentake of South Holderness, East Riding county York, 3 miles E. of Heydon."


"RYHILL, a township in the parish of Burstwick, S. division of Holderness wapentake, East Riding county York. 3 miles S. E. of Hedon, and 1 mile S. of Burstwick. The tithes were commuted for land and a money payment under an Enclosure Act in 1805. the Wesleyans have a place of worship. It derives its present appellation from the ancient family De Ryell."


"SKECKLING, a hamlet in the parish of Burstwick, S. division of Holderness wapentake, East Riding county York, 8 miles E. of Hull, its post town, and 2 from the Burstwick station, on the Hull and Holderness railway."
