The place:

Formerly a Chapelry in the township of Fraisthorpe and parish of Carnaby, but now an abandoned village, in Dickering; 3½ miles from Bridlington, 12 from Hornsea. The Church, demolished in 1731, was a perpetual curacy, dedicated to St. Nicholas, in the deanery of Dickering.
