HUGGATE:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"HUGGATE, a parish in the Wilton-Beacon division of the wapentake of HARTHILL, East riding of the county of YORK, 7 miles N.E. from Pocklington, containing 413 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £15, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. The inhabitants are supplied with water from a well one hundred and sixteen yards in depth. Races are held in July."
