HUMBLETON:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"HUMBLETON, a parish in the middle division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, comprising the chapelry of Elstronwick, and the townships of Danthorpe, Fitling, Flinton, and Humbleton, and containing 586 inhabitants, of which number, 136 are in the township of Humbleton, 9 miles E.N.E. from Kingston upon Hull. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at 10. 1. 0., endowed with 600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. Francis Heron, in 1718, devised certain houses and lands, now producing an annual income of 70, for teaphing and apprenticing eighteen children of both sexes. At Elstronwick is a school, towards the support of which, 11.10. is paid annually to a schoo mistress from the poor's estate."

"ELSTRONWICK, a chapelry in the parish of HUMBLETON, middle division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 9 miles E.N.E. from Kingston upon Hull, containing 154 inhabitants. The chapel is of great antiquity. There is a small endowed school."


"FITLING, a township in the parish of HUMBLETON, middle division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 11 miles E.N.E. from Kingston upon Hull, containing 119 inhabitants."


"FLINTON, a township in the parish of HUMBLETON, middle division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 9 miles N.E. from Kingston upon Hull, containing 125 inhabitants."
