The Ancient Parish of HUMBLETON

"HUMBLETON, a parish in the wapentake and liberty of Holderness, 5 miles NE. of Hedon. The parish church is dedicated to St. Peter (see Churches for photograph), and the living is in the gift of the King. There is here a public school, endowed by Francis Heron, for the education of the poor children of the parish, the present salary allowed for teaching them is 21. annually. This parish is known as the birthplace of the late Admiral John Storr. Population, 136."
