The Ancient Parish of HUMBLETON

"HUMBLETON, a parish in the wapentake and liberty of Holderness, 5 miles NE. of Hedon. The parish church is dedicated to St. Peter (see Churches for photograph), and the living is in the gift of the King. There is here a public school, endowed by Francis Heron, for the education of the poor children of the parish, the present salary allowed for teaching them is £21. annually. This parish is known as the birthplace of the late Admiral John Storr. Population, 136."
