Geographical and Historical information from the year 1835.

"SETTRINGTON, a parish in the wapentake of BUCKROSE, East riding of the county of YORK, comprising the townships of Scogglethorpe and Settrington, and containing 757 inhabitants, of which number, 535 are in the township of Settrington, 4 miles E.S.E. from New Malton. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of the East riding, and diocese of York, rated in the king's books at £42. 12. 6., and in the patronage of the Trustees of the late Earl of Bridgewater. The church is dedicated to All Saints."


"SCAGGLETHORPE, a township in the parish of SETTRINGTON, wapentake of BUCKROSE, East riding of the county of YORK, 3 miles N.E. from New Maiton, containing 222 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Primitive Methodists, with a Sunday school."
