"WHARRAM PERCY, a parish in the wapentake of Buckrose; 8 miles SSE. of Malton. The Rev. Richard Allen is the vicar of this parish, and the living is in the gift of Miss Isted and Miss Englefield, Pop. 44."


"BURDALE, a farm house in the parish of Wharram Percy, and wapentake of Buckrose; 1½ miles SE. of Wharram Percy, 10 miles SE. of Malton. Population with Raisthorpe, 47."


"PLUCKHAM, in the parish of Wharram Percy, and wapentake of Buckrose; 4 miles S. of Wharram Percy, 8 miles NE. of Pocklington."

John de Sezevaux, one of the Representatives for the city of York, 28th of Edward I. was of this place, and to whose name Drake, p. 35b, annexes the following note. De Sezevaux, or de sexdecem vallibus, is the town on the Wolds, now called Thixendale; corruptedly no doubt from sixteen dales, which the place is remarkable for."
