John de Sezevaux, one of the Representatives for the city of York, 28th of Edward I. was of this place, and to whose name Drake, p. 35b, annexes the following note. De Sezevaux, or de sexdecem vallibus, is the town on the Wolds, now called Thixendale; corruptedly no doubt from sixteen dales, which the place is remarkable for."
