Yorebridge School. Founded 25th September, 43rd Eliz., by Anthony Beason. Free for the children of the inhabitants of the Chapelry, except 2s. 6d. each (called a Cock Penny), at Shrovetide. Endowment : schoolhouse, and 2a. 2r. of land, and the rent of the Black Swan Inn, (originally called the White Swan,) in Coney Street, York, which, at the time of the Report, was occupied by Mr. Barber, under a lease granted to Clarke for thirty-one years (date of, lease not given) at the annual rent of £58; the lessee covenanting to lay out £1,000.
