Wakefield, War Memorial transcription:

The War Memorial at Wakefield.

When you go home tell them of us
and say for your tomorrows we gave our today
At the going down of the sun and in the
morning we will remember them

This monument was erected to perpetuate
the memory of the men of this city who
in the Great War 1914-1919 fought the
"good fight, dying in the cause of humanity"
that honour might live
Their names are inscribed on the Roll of
Honour which is deposited in the Town Hall

The monument also perpetuates the
memory of the men and women of this
city who died in the World War of
1939-1945
