Inclosure and Composition Acts were passed 15th and 48th Geo. III.

There is no glebe house.

The Register Books, which include Horsehouse, commence in 1707.

Charities:
Thomas Forster's Charity, by will, dated 25th June 1692, rent of 10a. 1r. 15p. of land, and a slate quarry. One fourth to the Curate, and three fourths to the poor.

John Constantine's Charity, by will, 24th November 1724, £12 per annum to the Curate of Horsehouse, if resident, and performing Divine service every Sunday forenoon, if not, to be given in charity. -Also £3 for educating six poor boys ; also £9 per annum, for apprenticing three poor boys ; also 20s. per annum, to two of the poorest families ; also 10s. per annum, for a treat to the trustees, and 2s. 6d. to the Minister of Horsehouse, and 2s. 6d. to the poor of Coverham.

William Swithenbank's Charity, by will, 21st January 1714. -Rent of a fire house for poor widows (the house has since fallen down, and the site is in the possession of Thomas Lofthouse), £1 per annum, to the Minister of Horsehouse, for preaching four sermons, viz. Christmas-day, Good Friday, Holy Thursday, and the 5th of November ; 10s. per annum, to the poor of High Dale ; £5 per annum, for teaching and apprenticing poor children ; £2 per annum, to old people and poor widows, and £1. 6s. per annum, to the poor of Steanbeck Up.

J. Hammond's rent charge, 10s. per annum ; T. Hammond's do., 10s. per annum ; Marshall's do., 30s. per annum, out of land at Melmerby belonging to Col. Chaytor ; Robert Pickering's do., 30s. per annum, paid by Mr. William Topham of Middleham.
