The place: DOWNHOLME.     Church dedication: ST. MICHAEL.     Church type: Augmented perpetual Curacy.

Area, 5,800 acres. Hang West wapentake. Population, 235 *1; Church-room, 150; Net value, £75. -Rated as a Vicarage in charge, £5. 15s. 10d. -The tenths are paid by the Impropriator.

The Manor belonged to the Lords Scrope of Bolton.

Appropriated to the Monastery of Coverham.

There is no glebe house.

The Register Books commence in 1736.

Whitelock's gift. Interest on £5, paidby Mr. Christopher Ellerton.

Ellerton's charity, by deed, 26th Sept. 1814, dividends on 150 Navy fives, given by the Rev. Edward Ellerton, Richard Ellerton, and Christopher Ellerton, for teaching poor children.
