The second list of legacies in All Saints Church, Hovingham.


Sarah Ableson, of Fryton, who died in the Year 1722, bequeathed to the Poor of this Township Five Pounds.

Thomas Worsley Esq': of this Place, who died in the Year 1750, bequeathed to the Poor Forty Pounds, out of which Eighteen Pounds was taken and applied to build an additional Room in the School-House.

William Taylor and Thomas Barker, Overseers in the Year 1767, made up the Sum of Ten Pounds for the Use of the said Poor, it being the overplus Money which they had in their Hands.

Mr. William Schoolcroft, of this Place, by his Voluntary Donation gave to the said Poor Five Pounds in Memory of his Mother Mrs. Elizabeth Schoolcroft who died December the 15th: 1770, the Interest whereof to be destributed always upon St.Peter's Day O.S.by his Heirs for ever.

The Rev:d James Graves, Rectorof Thorp-Bassett, left 1808, to the Rev:d John Cleaver, D.D., Geo:e Worsley Clerk, Tho:s Robson, Rob:t Baddison and Elias Inchbald Gent:n and their Successors for ever, the Sum of 200£. (vested in the Navy five per cents) the Interest to be applied towards the Education of Twelve poor children of the Township of Hovingham.

Miss Frances Worsley, left in the Year 1837, in trust, to the Minister & Church Wardens of the Parish of Hovingham, the sum of 200£. To dispose of the Interest of the same on Christmas Day, in every year, amongst the Poor of the said Parish; the same to be distributed at the discretion of the Minister & Church Wardens which sum has been invested in the New ??????????
