The List of Vicars in St. Lawrence's Church, Scalby.

List of the

Vicars of Scalby

The contents of this sheet are taken from Dr. Burton's copy of Torrs MSS in possession
of William Constable, Esq. and communicated in 1788 to me THOMAS PRESTON, Vicar.
The Church of St.Lawrence in Scalby was given by Eustace Fitz-John to the Canons
of Bridlington [see Monasticum Angelicanum, Vol. ii, page 163]. It was afterwards
appropriated to that Monastery and a Vicarage was then endowed. At the Dissolution
the Rectory and Vicarage were given by Henry VIII to the Dean and Chapter of Norwich.
