ARKSEY:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1829.

"ARKSEY, a parish in the lower division of Strafforth and Tickhill."


"BENTLEY, a village, in the parish of Arksey, in the same division and wapentake as Doncaster, is one mile and a half there from. In the parish is a large free school for boys, and twelve alms-houses for the benefit of as many poor widows. The population of the parish, in 1821, was 1,171."
Note: The directory entry for Bentley in Pigot's 1829 Directory is included with Doncaster.
