Donative Curacy. -Patron, G. H. Thompson, Esq. -Area, vide Brayton. Barkston Ash wapentake, L. D. -Population, 230, vide Brayton; Church-room, 150; Net value, £30 -" There are two Chapels, viz., Birley, two miles from Brayton, the way bad ; Gartforth is also two miles distant, but the way very good. Birley to be made a parish Church; but Gartforth Chapel to be discontinued, because of the nearness of the place and goodness of the way."

There is no glebe house.

Charities:
The Commissioners understood that a rent-charge of £2 per annum had been given by a Lady Cholmley for the poor of Barlow, but they could obtain no account of it, or of the property liable thereto. -Vide 21st Report, page 597.
