Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"BURTON LEONARD, a parish in the lower division of the wapentake of Clare, in the West Riding of the county of York, 5 miles to the N. of Knaresborough, its post town. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ripon, value £140, in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of York. The church is dedicated to St. Helen. The parochial charities produce about £30 per annum. There is a chapel belonging to the Wesleyan Methodists."
