CANTLEY:
Geographical and Historical information from the year 1868.

"CANTLEY, a parish in the southern division of the wapentake of Strafforth and Tickhill, in the West Riding of the county of York, 3 miles to the S.E. of Doncaster, its post town. It includes the hamlets of Bessecar, Branton, High Ellers, Low Ellers, and Gatewood. The living is a vicarage* in the diocese of York, value £233, in the patronage of J. W. Childers, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Wilfrid. Cantley House is the principal residence."
