James Adams Churchwarden and Overseer of the Poor hath made his Accounts for 2 years that is to say 1731 and for 1732 this day above written And we finde the Said James Adams hath Disbursed for the Church and Poor the Sume of £14 18s 9d and he hath Received the Sume of £14 0s 10d 2f so wee finde the Said Town Indebetted to the said James Adams the Sume of 17s 10d 2f which Sume John Preston promises to pay for the use of the said Town.

Articles of Agreement Covenanted, Promised, Declared and fully agreed upon the Sixth day of December Anno Domini 1733.
In between and amongst the Inhabitants of Little Houghton (words rubbed out).
Witnesseth that we, the said Inhabitants of Little Houghton aforesaid, Thomas Roberts, Thomas Sanderson, Thomas Kenyon, William Wordsworth, John Preston, Robert Wordsworth, James Adams, Ruth Woodhead, John Roberts, Martin Marshall, John Allender, Ann ffield, Robert Belesby, all and every one od them Do think it will be a good convenient and Great profitt to sow our Town fields with Clover always the following years.
And they have promised Covenanted and fully agreed upon it in Between and amongst themselves.
And by these presents Do promise Covenant, Grant and fully agreed upon it To Saw Surfield field with Cloverthis yeare and so every field hereafter with Clover when they become fallow.
Item. And it is fully agreed upon for all and every one of them to make their fences and hange their Yates in and about the Surfield field and keep them up until the Clover be gotten outt for every gapp or smought one shilling. And So in or about every field when it is Sawn with Clover. And these forfitts to be paid to the Constable for the use of the said Town.

Item And if anyone Refuse to make Stopp and uphold their fences or Yates, Then it shall be Lawfull for the Constable and Bye-Lawman to take (rubbed out) to themselves other two Inhabitants of the said Town and view the damage done by such neglect and present the said Offenders in Mexborough Court One pound nineteen shillings sixpence or what they shall think most fitting for such offence. And when the Corne is gotten from of the Clover at Michaelmas Then the Constable shall give one day notice when the Clover is to be eaten in a deep season.
Thomas Roberts, allas above. Wee ande every one of us Do fully freely and absolutely promise Covenant Grant and agree to performe fulfill and keep all these promises Covenants Grants and agreements above mentioned and declared.
