"GARFORTH, a parish-town, in the lower-division of Skyrack, liberty of Pontefract; 3 miles S. of Aberford, 7 from Leeds, 9 from Wakefield, 19 from York. Pop. 731. The Church is a rectory, dedicated to St. Mary (see Churches for photograph), in the deanry of the Ainsty, value, ~£8. 17s. 8½d. Patron, the Rev. W. Whitaker, the present incumbent."

"BARROWBY HALL, in the parish of Garforth, wapentake of Skyrack, and honour of Pontefract; 6 miles E. of Leeds."

"MOOR GARFORTH, in the township and parish of Garforth, liberty of Pontefract; 2¾ miles from Aberford."

"PECKFIELD HOUSE, a single house in the township and parish of Garforth, 5 miles NW. of Ferrybridge, 7 from Pontefract. It is on the edge of the Roman Road, from Castleford to Aberford."
