The Square Chapel, Halifax

Built in 1772 by Titus Knight & James Kershaw.

Titus Knight was the first pastor at Square Chapel. Born 1719, worked in Shibden coal pit at 7 years old and remained a collier for 20 years.

During this time he somehow acquired a knowledge of Hebrew, Greek, Latin and Classical History!

Founder members:
Titus Knight, William Pollard, Benjamin Robinson, Benjamin Dickenson,
Jonathan Hodgson, James Kershaw, William Thompson, Charles Dearden, John Ackroyd and William Clay.
