"KIVETON TOWER, in the parish of Harthill, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, 6 m. from Rotherham, the seat of Sir Rich. Osborn, Bt. (in the R. of K. Cha. I.) to whose posterity, the Ds. of Leeds, it gives title of Baron, and they have a seat here, about 1 m. from Aston, which was built in the R. of Cha. II. by Sir Thomas, the first D. of that name, and stands in a good air, with a fine prospect, a canal, pleasant gardens, and a large park, through which the D. of Leeds has cut a vista, to take in Laughton steeple, about 3 m. off."
